IELTS Tutoring (by EMBT Academy)

About this course
IELTS is the International English Language Testing System, established in 1989. The test is used globally as a measure of a non-native speaker’s English language proficiency. The Test has been designed to ensure that students are able to perform well in a university environment where English is the primary language of communication.
Organizers of the IELTS test
The English Language Assessment Unit of Cambridge University developed IELTS, whilst the British Council and IDP Australia help conduct the tests.
Components of the IELTS test
The IELTS test has a total duration of about 3 hours and comprises four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Tests for the first three sections run as a monolithic session. The Speaking section test can be held on the same day or on different days.
Structurally these 4 sections are aggregated as two modules within IELTS:
- Academic Module
- General Training Module
There is also an additional test offered by some of the IELTS test partners, called IELTS Life Skills:
Time allocation for the four parts of the IELTS test –
Listening: 30 minutes (plus 10 minutes’ transfer time)
Reading: 60 minutes
Writing: 60 minutes
Speaking: 11–14 minutes
The total test time is: 2 hours and 45 minutes.
The results of the IELTS test are provided on a spectrum or 9-part band that ranges from “Expert user” to Non-User.
